Medical shortages<\/span><\/h2>\n

What is a medical shortage?<\/span><\/h3>\n

A medical shortage is the inability to provide services at a facility due to a lack of physicians. During a shortage, service corridors are established so that patients can be redirected to another hospital if necessary. At all times, patients have access to a transfer from their local area if needed, and staff will be available to receive them. Therefore, patients should present themselves at the hospital as usual to be assessed and referred as needed.<\/span><\/p>\n

What constitutes a service disruption?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

A service disruption is the inability to provide services at a facility due to staff shortages or equipment failure. During a disruption, service corridors are established so that patients can be redirected to another facility if necessary.<\/p>\n
