{"id":4194,"date":"2018-01-04T18:40:28","date_gmt":"2018-01-04T18:40:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cisss-at.gouv.qc.ca\/deficience-visuelle\/"},"modified":"2023-12-13T10:38:41","modified_gmt":"2023-12-13T15:38:41","slug":"visual-impairment","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.cisss-at.gouv.qc.ca\/en\/visual-impairment\/","title":{"rendered":"Visual Impairment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome to the habilitation, rehabilitation and social integration program for visual impairment.<\/p>\n<h3>\nClientele<\/h3>\n<p>You suffer from severe and permanent vision loss causing you to be unable to read, write or circulate in an unfamiliar environments or to carry out your daily tasks.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Admissibility criteria<\/h3>\n<p>We offer specialised habilitation and rehabilitation services to children, adolescents, adults and the elderly suffering from problems or impairments following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Serious or total vision loss, diagnosed by a recognised professional (optometrist or ophthalmologist)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Required documents are :<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>The ophthalmic record for the past five years;<\/li>\n<li>The optometrist\u2019s file of less than a year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Attainable objectives<\/h3>\n<p>The purpose of our program is to assist the individual to develop their autonomy within their lifestyle: mobility, communication, daily activities, work, studies, leisure activities, etc.<\/p>\n<p>If necessary, we can provide adaptive or technical aids, demonstrate their use and see to the repair of technical aids that were loaned to them.<\/p>\n<p>Our specialised services are personalized and centered on the individual and their family. They are offered according to the rehabilitation objectives of the individual.<\/p>\n<p>Rehabilitation services have a beginning and an end. The decision to end rehabilitation is made from pre-established criteria in the program and, following a discussion with the user, their family and the rehabilitation team. .<\/p>\n<p>According to the situation, services are offered at the Centre de r\u00e9adaptation en d\u00e9ficience intellectuelle, trouble du spectre de l'autisme et d\u00e9ficience physique or in different living environments of the individual (home, workplace, etc.) to foster learning in all areas.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>An essential collaboration<\/h3>\n<p>The success of the habilitation and rehabilitation approach at Centre de r\u00e9adaptation en d\u00e9ficience intellectuelle, trouble du spectre de l\u2019autisme et d\u00e9ficience physique rests on the collaboration and involvement of the families, on the participation of the user in their treatment and on the integration of these skills in their different living environments. <br \/>\nThe individual involved in the rehabilitation process is considered as the key agent of change. They occupy a place of importance in the decision making process and their opinion is solicited during the different stages of the rehabilitation process.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>A dynamic team of specialists and important partners<\/h3>\n<p>Our professional and competent specialists will work with the individual, the child or adolescent and their family to reach the established objectives within their intervention plan or to meet the needs for technical aids. They are specialists in visual impairment rehabilitation, specialists in orientation and mobility, optometrists and social workers.
