Telephone support

Anyone can experience suicidal thoughts. If you are experiencing this, several telephone-based psychosocial support services are available. A qualified and attentive professional will provide you with confidential and high-quality service.

Info-Social Line

Get support and advice from a qualified psychosocial worker by contacting the Info-Social line , available 24/7. No matter the situation, if the flow of emotions becomes difficult to manage, dial 811, option 2.

Reso

Reso is a mobile application created by the region's suicide prevention centers and Available on the App Store and Google Play. Two versions are available, one for young people. aged 11 to 15, ( Réso.cool ) and one for adults ( Réso#adulte ). Among other things, it includes tips and tricks for self-care, signs and changes to recognize to help a loved one, and tools to know what to do when things aren't going well.  

Tel-Jeunes

The Tel-jeunes helpline is designed for young people and teenagers, as well as their parents. Whether it's problems at school, substance abuse, or mental health, counselors are there to help and offer advice.

Hopeful Helpline for Well-being

The Hope for Wellness helpline is for all Indigenous people in Canada. Call services are available in Cree, Ojibwe ( Anishinaabemowin ), and Inuktitut. Experienced and culturally sensitive counsellors can be reached by phone at 1-855-242-3310.

Assistance, support or accompaniment service

You can also contact your doctor or visit a CLSC service point to get help from a psychosocial worker.

 

Suicide Prevention Centers

Suicide prevention centers offer various services to people in distress, their loved ones, people bereaved by suicide, and professionals working in the public health and social services network, in the private sector, and in school or community settings.

Services offered:

  • Face-to-face intervention;
  • Support for people bereaved following the suicide of a loved one;
  • Occasional or short-term monitoring of people at risk of suicide;
  • Postvention (intervention following a suicide, family meeting, group meeting, in the workplace or in a school setting, etc.);
  • Support for stakeholders in the community;
  • Support for the relatives of a suicidal person.

Acting as a sentinel

Offered by suicide prevention centers in the region, the "Acting as a Sentinel" training is designed for adult volunteers who may come into contact with people vulnerable to suicide in their work or volunteer activities, and who may not necessarily have formal training in helping relationships.
