The pages accessible in English concern access to services and security in regard with health and social services in accordance with the French language charter. The Charter of the French language and its regulations govern the consultation of English-language content. 

Services for children aged 0 to 21 and their families

Children 0 to 5 years

Help is available for toddlers and children whose parents are concerned about the development of motor, emotional, cognitive, social and language skills. Following an evaluation, the child and their parents could be directed to the appropriate services at the CISSS de l’Abitibi-Témiscamingue or to other agencies based on their situation.

Available services

  • Speech therapy (language);
  • Occupational therapy (fine-motor skills) and physiotherapy (fine-motor skills);
  • Psychoeducation and special education;
  • Nutrition services;
  • Nursing care;
  • Support in daycare centres.

Please note that certain services are not available everywhere on the CISSS de l'Abitibi-Témiscamingue territory. Find out from the services centre nearest you.

Youth 0 to 19 years old

We offer assistance and support adapted to children and adolescents with health-related needs or who are living with personal problems, social habilitation problems, mental health issues or addictions. (Ex: Alcohol, drugs, gambling)

Services are also available for strained parent-child relationships or family crisis.

Our professionals can evaluate the situation and intervene with the child, the adolescent and the parents. Adolescents can receive individual help if they wish.

 

Available services

  • Psychosocial evaluation and follow-up services offered at home, at school or at the services centre;
  • Family crisis intervention services and intensive follow-up in the community;
  • Rehabilitation services for children and adolescents with behavior problems in their natural environment;
  • Intervention services for trans gender youth or for those who are seeking answers;
  • Support services for youth with mental health problems and for their families;
  • Child and adolescent psychiatry;
  • Resident rehabilitation services for youth with behavior problems;
  • Counseling and referral to appropriate services;
  • Intervention and preparation for transitioning into adulthood;
  • Foster care services for children 0 to 17 years of age.

To obtain these services

All parents, children and adolescents can make a request for services. Adolescents aged 14 and more have to right to have their request treated confidentially and without parental consent. Children and youth have access to school-based health services and a social worker.
