Zika virus

Zika virus is a virus transmitted by the bite of an infected mosquito.

The majority of people infected by the virus (75 to 80%) never develop symptoms. When it causes symptoms, they are generally benign and are mainly:

  • Moderate fever;
  • Muscle and joint pain;
  • Red eyes;
  • Pinkeye;
  • Skin rash;
  • Systemic symptoms such as weakness, listlessness and headaches.
